Sweet Saturday #5 - Homemade granola

Ohad asked me if we could make homemade granola this weekend. So I remembered this amazing recipe from the Smart Travelling Cornwall guide book. So this recipe is from the gorgeous Botelet guesthouse in Cornwall. (full recipe after the jump)


3 cups of oat flakes

1 cup of blanched slivered almonds 

1 cup of cashew nuts

3/4 cup of grated coconut

3/4 tsp salt

1/2 cup sunflower seeds

1/2 cup pumpkin seeds

1/2 cup wheat germ

1/3 cup of brown sugar

1/3 cup of maple syrup or honey

1/3 cup sunflower or olive oil

1 cup raisins


Preheat the oven to 130 degrees celsius. Mix all the dry ingredients (except raisins) in a big bowl. Add the oil and syrup to it and mix well with your hands. Spread the granola on two separate flat baking pans and bake for one hour. During the baking process, stir every 15 minutes so it gets crispy without burning. Take your granola out of the oven and pour it back to the bowl, add the raisins and mix well.
